“I never went back to school because I was intimidated by it,” McTigue said. “For me, having just come out of a war zone after 10 years and going into a corporate environment, I was bored. I didn’t have challenges anymore, so it was a very big challenge to take on something that I was afraid to do and that was to go back to the classroom.”

Despite this apprehension, Philip McTigue pursued his dream and learned that being a student came easier to him than it had in the past. Through hard work and determination, McTigue earned a bachelor’s degree in homeland security at American Military University in West Virginia. Realizing his pursuit of knowledge was beneficial to his corporate career as well as fulfilling his need for a challenge, McTigue went on to earn a Masters Degree in Homeland Security from Northeastern University in Boston.
